In case you or someone in your business haven’t bought into the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model yet, Darwin Redshield outlines the benefits clearly and succinctly. While the benefits are numerous, I think he lays out the top five advantages of cloud computing in a compelling way and can be a useful resource if you’re trying to get buy-in for SaaS applications in your business.
While I recommend you take a look at his post, here’s a peek at Redshield’s top five reasons to jump on the SaaS bandwagon:
- SaaS is ready-made i.e. ready to go once its implemented
- Most bang for your buck: Lower up-front costs, less risk, etc.
- No installation required: Just access the application and go.
- Expert support: Vendors who offer Software-as-a-Service become service organizations and likely place a higher value on the support they offer to their clients
- Real time collaboration: Because most SaaS apps are web-based, they promote collaboration in the realm of social networking and remote personnel, particularly in an alternative workspace environment
Few IT leaders are rejecting SaaS as a delivery model. They like the idea, and hope that there are more case studies of high scalability with high transactional levels and real time integration/synchronization with legacy systems.
